Mr. Ian Mitchell - USCCB
Ian Mitchell received a Bachelor of Arts degrees in history and anthropology at the University of Virginia and then went on to work as an Editorial Assistant at the National Geographic Society. In 1999, Ian worked in India for a year with the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) He then joined and worked with them for 7 years during which time he earned a Master of Arts degree in philosophy from Loyola University Chicago. In 2009, Ian returned to Washington DC and worked with the US Conference of Catholic Bishops(USCCB). Since 2016, Ian has continued on the staff of USCCB as the Northeast regional representative of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development, collaborating with Catholic dioceses throughout the region to support organizations led by impoverished and marginalized people striving for justice, dignity and sustainable economies in their communities. Ian lives just outside D.C. in Alexandria, Virginia, and continues studies in theology through Loyola Chicago toward a Master of Divinity degree.

We are pleased to announce the winners of the
Most Reverend Donnelly Awards
which were presented at the dinner

The Most Reverend Donnelly Award to an individual will be awarded to Mr. Kenneth Galdston. Ken Galdston, whose parents were first generation Americans, grew up, New York. He studied American Civilization at Brown University, graduating in 1968. He then served for two years as a VISTA Volunteer in rural North Carolina. Following a year abroad as an Arnold Fellow, he then organized for 7 years with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Buffalo. He graduated from the Yale School of Management in 1982, and then helped organize 9 regional, institution-based, multi-issue community organizations in hard-hit New England regions, beginning with the Naugatuck Valley Project in Connecticut, and the InterValley Project (IVP), a regional community organizing network. He lives in Newton with his wife, Janet Saglio, and they have one son, Daniel Galdston-Saglio.

The Most Reverend Donnelly Award to an organization will be awarded to Congregations Organized for a New Connecticut (CONECT) CONECT is a broad-based organization made up of 37 religious and civic institutions: urban and suburban, multi-faith, and racially and ethnically diverse, in New Haven and Fairfield Counties of Connecticut. Members come together to build relationships, develop leaders, and take action on issues for the common good-issues such as immigration, healthcare, police accountability and community safety, criminal justice reform, gun violence, and more.
